Pregnancy (OB) Under 12 Weeks Ultrasound

Our detailed scans for pregnancies under 12 weeks are used to confirm pregnancy, establish an accurate due date, and monitor the health of the fetus, placenta, and ovaries. With a focus on clinical precision and patient peace of mind, our Radiologists provide comprehensive reports within 24 hours to ensure you and your healthcare provider have the timely data needed for early prenatal care.
We will perform a detailed scan to look at the size, shape and condition of the:
- uterus
- gestational sac and fetus
- both ovaries
- pelvic area
In the first trimester of pregnancy (weeks one to 12), ultrasounds may be done to:
- confirm pregnancy
- check the fetal heartbeat
- determine the gestational age of the baby and estimate a due date
- check for multiple pregnancies
- examine the placenta, uterus, ovaries, and cervix
- diagnose an ectopic pregnancy (when the fetus does not attach to the uterus) or miscarriage
- look for any abnormal growth in the fetus
We will provide a Radiologist report within 24 hours.

Pre-scan Preparation
- Need to expose lower part of the abdomen so ideally wear 2 piece garments i.e pants and top.
- Drink a minimum of 24 ounces of clear fluid at least one hour before your appointment. Do not empty your bladder until after the exam.
- Maintain normal medication.
