Aorta AAA (Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm) Screening

Advance Diagnostics Laboratories provides specialized Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening to assess the health and condition of the aorta and iliac arteries. Our detailed scans are designed to detect aneurysms, monitor aortic dilation, and identify potential narrowing caused by plaque or calcification. By offering precise imaging and delivering a Radiologist’s report within 24 hours, we provide healthcare providers and patients with the critical information needed for proactive vascular health management.

We will perform a detailed scan to look at the size, shape and condition of the:

  • aorta

  • iliac arteries

  • should an aneurysm be identified, both kidneys and renal arteries will also be evaluated

  • assessing for any aortic narrowing from calcification, plaque or thrombus build-up

Common examples for having this ultrasound screening are:

  • detection of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)

  • monitoring aortic dilation

We will provide a Radiologist report within 24 hours.

Pre-scan Preparation

  • Need to expose lower part of abdomen so ideally wear 2 piece garments i.e pants and top.
  • 8 hours of fasting required.
    No breakfast if morning appointment / no lunch for afternoon appointment. Clear fluids are allowed.
  • For diabetics maintain food intake but avoid fatty or dairy products.
  • Maintain normal medication.
